The Board of Directors is
comprised of eleven individuals representing all walks of life
from Palo Alto County. Requirements include:
- A minimum of three members
must have a family member currently receiving service
at Horizons.
- After two consecutive 3-year-terms, an individual must go off the board for a period of at least one year.

The Board's role is to:
- Govern the organization's resources.
- Preserve, develop and expand programs and services for those
served.
- Set organization policy.
- Ensure the perpetuation of and plan for the future of the organization.
- Serve as advocates for the organization.
| Ed Hannagan, CEO |
Horizons Unlimited's new Chief Executive Officer Ed Hannagan started September 3, 2007. With a career spanning more than 30 years in rehabilitation services, Horizons Unlimited's Board of Directors felt that Ed was the right choice for Horizons new Chief Executive Officer. Ed has a Bachelor of Science degree from Drake University in Rehabilitation Services, with an emphasis in Rehabilitation Administration. He also has a Certificate of Specialization as a Residential Care Facility Administrator. Ed has held various positions since 1975 and has worked at five different facilities. Prior to Horizons Unlimited, he was Residential Services Director at Humboldt Workshop. |

| Greg Hoyman, R.PH., President |
Greg is a registered pharmacist and co-owner, with his son Steve, of Hughes Pharmacy. He is currently president of the Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Iowa Pharmacist Association. He is currently a member of the Iowa Pharmacist Association, the National Community Pharmacist Association, American Society of Consultant Pharmacists and the American Pharmacist Association. Greg has his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Iowa and his MBA from the University of South Dakota. |

| Gary Hughes, Vice-President |
| Gary is a retired banker. He is a member
of the Iowa Bankers Association and Iowa Independent Bankers.
He has served on the Palo Alto County Hospital Board of
Directors in various positions and has served on the Emmetsburg
Public Library Board of Directors. |

| Sandy
Naig, Secretary/Treasurer |
Sandy is the Foodservice Coordinator at the Estherville campus of Iowa Lakes Community College. ILCC was named Echo Plus Employer of the Year and the award was presented to Sandy. Sandy and her husband also own and operate Sandan's Catering. She has her Associates of Applied Science degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management and she is certified in Serv Safe food and HAACP. |

| Jane Banwart |
Jane and her husband, Don, live near West Bend where they farm and own Banwart Tax Service. Banwart Tax Service provides income, sales and payroll tax preparation and bookkeeping for area businesses and individuals. Banwart Tax Service is a member of the West Bend Chamber of Commerce, and Jane served as president for the Chamber. She is active in the West Bend United Methodist Church where she has served as a Sunday School teacher, on the Board of Trustees, and she is currently the Financial Secretary for the church. The FFA chose Jane as "Mom of the Year" when her children were involved in the program. |

| Dr. James Bird |
Dr. Bird is a Doctor of Chiropractic and owns Emmetsburg Chiropractic Clinic. He received his Bachelor of Science and his Doctor of Chiropractic degrees from Northwestern University. He is a member of the Iowa Chiropractic Association and Rotary International. He is past president of Rotary International. He has served on the Horizons Unlimited Board for more than six years. |

| Sandi
Chapman |
Sandi and her husband, Ron, have owned Chapman
Wellness Unlimited for 26 years. She is currently Shaklee
Key Coordinator and has earned the Shaklee High Achievers
Award twice. Sandi is the current president of the Lakeside
Lutheran Homes Auxiliary and she served on the Northwest Iowa
Mental Health Board for 18 years. She also served as president
of the Palo Alto County ARC. This is the 11th year she has
served on Horizons Unlimited’s Board of Directors. |

| Mary Clasing |
Mary, now retired, worked for the county government for 30 years at the Palo Alto County Courthouse. She currently serves on the Mental Health Board in Spencer and on the Arts Council. She was the President of the Ruthven Centennial Committee in 1984. |

Cooper |
Mary and her husband, Dan, own Dan Cooper Builders, Inc. Mary’s husband has been a general contractor for 30 years. She served on the Emmetsburg Community School Board for nine years. Mary has served on the Horizons Unlimited Board of Directors for more than 10 years. |

Mattice |
Alan Mattice is a funeral director and owner of Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg and Ruthven. He has his Bachelor of Science degree from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska and his Mortuary Science Degree from KCKCC in Kansas City, Kansas. Alan belongs to the Iowa Funeral Directors Association, serving as past Lieutenant Governor. He's also a member of the Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce, serving as past President, and is a member of Rotary International. |

| Phil
Stillman |
Phil is a retired grain and livestock farmer
of 45 years. In 1982, he received the Wallace Farmer “Iowa
Master Farmer Award.” He serves on the Palo Alto County
Health Board of Directors. In the past, he was president
of the Palo Alto County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and
he served on the Iowa Corn Growers Board. |
